HOW TO CHOOSE AND ATHLETIC CAMP
No two camps are the same and it’s
important that you select a program that is right for you. Do a little
investigating into a potential athletic camp to see just what is offered
and how it’s run. Some camps are designed to get kids out of the house
for the summer, others are designed for S-A’s serious about their
athletic development. If you want to use an athletic camp for the
purposes of getting better and improving your recruiting needs, it’s
important that you choose the right camp.
Size -
What is the size of the camp? Is it
smaller and more personal or does it have hundreds of kids attending at
one time. Big camps may be fun, but you may get less repetitions, less
playing time and less personalized instruction than you would at a
smaller camp.
Location -
Is the camp far away or close to you, will
you have to commute or is it overnight. Is it at a college or a HS or
somewhere else?
Coaching Staff -
Who is on the coaching staff, are they
college coaches, HS coaches, HS players, college players, what is their
level of ability, what schools are they from? Many college coaches work
camps at other schools in the area.
