Raymond Lauenstein, M.S.
Ray is a respected writer and speaker on the
topics of mental skills training and college recruiting. He
holds a master of science degree in Sport Psychology from
Florida State University and has worked with the FSU athletic
department, the Houston Astros and many High School teams. He
received an undergraduate degree from Hamilton College where
he was captain of the baseball team.
As a coach his experience includes two seasons with the
highly regarded Florida High Seminoles (Tallahassee), Little
League, Babe Ruth, and several other youth and high school
programs.
In 1997 Ray Published wrote and published
Baseball,
Playing Outside the Lines - A Guide
for College Bound Baseball Players, their Parents and Coaches.
In 2000 the book was revised and updated. Now, after 1,000
sales, the 2003-04 updated and revised edition will be available
soon with more content and great interviews. Past
publications and organizations where his work have appeared
include Golf Illustrated, The Boston Sports Journal, PONY
Baseball, National High School Baseball Coaches Association,
All-Stater Magazine and High Wired Sports Magazine.
His past works include The
Athlete's Advisor
Newsletter, a subscription based publication for high school
athletic and guidance departments and several contributed
articles. In 2001 he was the web producer for
HighWiredSports.com, a national high school sports web site
covering 60 markets via a network of 300 local sports writers.
Currently, Ray runs www.athletesadvisor.com
which provides educational information for parents &
students regarding training, nutrition, college recruiting and
has also authored over 100 articles on college recruiting,
student athletics, and mental skills, and done extensive
interviews with personal trainers at the professional & college
level. In addition Ray consults privately for families in the
middle of the college recruiting process.
David Galehouse
David is the founder of New England Interactive, which
operates a variety of local and national sports-related
websites. He has also written and published over 100 articles
on such topics as the college recruiting and application
process and life as a college athlete. David graduated from
Fairfield University in Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science
in Marketing. David’s athletic experience spans over 25 years.
In high school, he excelled as an athlete playing both varsity
golf and baseball, gaining such titles as league MVP and was a
2-year member of the American Junior Golf Association. After
spending a year at Rollins College, David transferred to
Fairfield University where he walked on and became a starter
and 2-year player for Fairfield’s Division 1 baseball team
before retiring to manage and teach at a local baseball
training facility. After graduating from Fairfield, David
worked as an advertising representative at Schoolsports
magazine, a local high school athletic magazine in the Boston
area.
In 2001, David launched his
own company, New England Interactive, which operates
Varsityedge.com, a national website that provides
information to parents, students, and coaches on the college
athletic recruiting process, applying to college, life as a
college athlete, financial aid information, and well as
additional topics related to youth, high school, and college
athletics. New England Interactive recently launched two
additional websites,
www.golfingnewengland.com,
which provides comprehensive listings of public golf courses,
driving ranges, and golf practice facilities in the New
England area, and
www.newenglandathletics.com,
which provides resources for New England athletes, camps,
athletic facilities, and instructor listings. David is also
the Director or Internet Services for the Lexington Blue Sox,
an amateur baseball team that competes in the Greater Boston
Intercity League. The Making of a Student-Athlete is David’s
first book.
