Ball with Boutin -
April 24. 2005          Interview Index

Instructor Bob Boutin tells us about some common swing flaws and how to approach fixing them. 90% of hitting success is a function of set-up and approach.

Most people try to treat symptoms when they really need to find the root of the problem. For example swinging under the ball is a problem that is caused by a problem someplace else in the hitters approach. The swing issue is a sign that the problem exists.

Bob also identifies a few mistakes coaches can make when teaching hitting to young players.

Listen to the interview  - mp3 file format approx 6 minutes and 25 seconds.

Ray Lauenstein is the author of Baseball: Playing Outside the Lines and The Making of a Student Athlete.  He also holds a Masters Degree in Sport Psychology and gives seminars on Mental Skills Training and the Recruiting Process.
