15-20 minutes (beyond will cause swelling)

5-6 times per day after a recent injury

Number of Treatments 3-5 times per day
Decrease to an injury site Blood Flow Increase to an injury site
Ice Bag- crushed or cubed ice in a plastic bag.

Ice cup; place water in paper cup and freeze; peel top of cup; exposing ice, then place on injured area always moving ice.

Forms

Warm whirlpool kept at 100-104 degrees (limit 5-10 min.)

Moist (hydrocollator) heat pack placed in a towel

Moist warm towels

Always consult your team trainer, coach or physician if you suffer an injury and let them prescribe your course of action.
