Some Timely Advice for Team Sport Coaches

By Jacqueline Savis, Ph.D., Sport Psychology Consultant

Chronobiology – the study of "body time" can significantly benefit coaches, particularly team sport coaches. A number of recent studies point to the benefits of chronobiology, both in terms of the pre-season and competitive season. By using effective "body time" principles, coaches can enhance fitness, team cohesion, psychomotor skill development, and tactical skill development in their athletes. Taken together, the chances that team sport athletes will have greater sport satisfaction AND improved performance are increased. The best part is that sound body time principles are not time-consuming to develop nor structure within a team setting.
